Elliott Earls Workshop

Elliott Earls, Artist-in-Residence and head of the Graduate Graphic Design Department at Cranbrook Academy of Art, was invited to USU to do a workshop primarily for undergraduate students. The workshop was based off of Hybrid Practice: A Primer.

Hybrid practice is essential idea to Elliott Earls work and to the work of the Cranbrook 2D graduate studio. Earls sent a project in advance for students to work on, and finished work was submitted and critiqued by Elliott at the workshop. The students and Elliott talked about the many issues that come up in the process of making the work. Critiques were based loosely on the interpretive critique methodology Earls is developing at Cranbrook.
